Posts under RRB NTPC Under Graduate
As per the summary table in the notification for UG NTPC posts, the recruitment includes (among others):
- Commercial cum Ticket Clerk
- Accounts Clerk cum Typist
- Junior Clerk cum Typist
- Trains Clerk
All these posts are in the 7th CPC pay levels for Under Graduate posts (Level-2 / Level-3 as per notification).
Selection Process
The recruitment process broadly consists of:
- 1st Stage CBT – Common for all UG NTPC posts
- 2nd Stage CBT – Post-specific, for shortlisted candidates
- Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) – Only for posts like
Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist - Document Verification & Medical Examination
Marks obtained in typing skill test are qualifying in nature and are not added for merit, but candidates must pass as per the criteria given in the notification.
Exam Pattern – 1st Stage CBT
As per page 19 of the notification:
- Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates using scribe)
- Total Questions: 100
- Question Type: Objective (MCQ), 1 mark each
- Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer

The 1st Stage CBT is screening in nature and is common for all UG posts.
Exam Pattern – 2nd Stage CBT

- Total Questions: 120
- Question Type: Objective (MCQ), 1 mark each
- Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer

Shortlisting for 2nd Stage CBT is based on normalized marks of 1st Stage CBT.
Computer-Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST)
For Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist posts, a Computer-Based Typing Skill Test is conducted:
- Candidates must type at a prescribed speed in English or Hindi on a computer.
- The test is of a qualifying nature; marks are not added to the final merit list.
- PwBD candidates with certain disabilities can be exempted from CBTST if they submit a Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate (as per notification).

According to pages 19–20 of the notification, questions in CBTs will be objective type and will broadly cover:
